The Mechanical Licensing Collective maintains a public dashboard distinguishing royalties matched to registered musical works from royalties not yet matched. Its work-matching process depends heavily on composition and sound-recording data.
How the rights and registrations work
A recording can be delivered correctly to streaming platforms while its underlying composition is missing, incomplete or linked to another title. Multiple writers, duplicate claims and inconsistent identifiers can delay accurate payments. Dashboard aggregates do not establish that any particular songwriter is owed a specific amount.
What a rights holder should do
Check song titles, alternates, legal writer names, ownership shares, publishers and the recordings associated with each composition. Use authorized matching and claims tools, record every correction and monitor subsequent statements.
